Non-Medical Transportation: Getting to the Rest of Your Life
September 4, 2026
Not every trip is a medical appointment.
If you use a wheelchair or need help getting into a vehicle, it is easy for your world to shrink to the places you have to go. Dialysis, the specialist, the pharmacy. The grocery store, the barber, your granddaughter’s graduation, Sunday service: those quietly fall off the list, not because you stopped wanting them but because getting there became a project.
That is the gap non-medical transportation fills.
Where people actually ask us to go
- Shopping and errands
- Grocery stores and pharmacies
- Hair salon, spa and barber appointments
- Family gatherings and celebrations
- Religious services, with weekly recurring trips available
- Community activities and social events
- Recreation and entertainment
- Restaurants and dining
- Visiting friends and family
- Adult day programs and senior centers
- Employment and volunteer activities
- Personal appointments
Your destination does not have to be a doctor’s office for you to need accessible transportation.
What the trip looks like
The same vehicles, the same drivers, the same assistance as a medical trip. Wheelchair-ramp-equipped vans with secure anchor straps for passengers who use a wheelchair, and comfortable sedans for passengers who do not.
Door to door, both ways. If you are going shopping, we will help you get there and get home safely with what you bought. If scheduling allows, we can combine several stops into one trip rather than making you book three.
One companion rides free
Having a familiar face along makes a trip easier, so one family member, loved one, or caregiver can ride along at no additional charge.
This matters more for social trips than medical ones. Going to a party alone because the ride only had room for you is not much of an outing.
We do not rush
Some passengers need a little more time to get ready to travel, and transportation should not feel like a race. Our drivers are trained to wait, to help where help is wanted, and to let people do for themselves what they can.
That is not a small thing when the trip is supposed to be the good part of your week.
For families and caregivers
Arranging transportation for someone you look after comes with its own set of challenges, and we try to make the process as straightforward as possible.
We work with passengers, family members, caregivers, residential facilities and other authorized representatives to coordinate around the passenger’s actual needs and destination. You should be able to feel confident that the person you care about is with a professional who understands safety, patience and respect.
Pricing
Non-medical trips are private pay, because no insurance benefit covers a trip to a family party. The rates are the same published ones we use for everything else:
- Sedan transportation: $35 to $75 for local trips
- Wheelchair transportation: $50 to $100 depending on location
- Long distance: quoted individually
Final pricing depends on mobility needs, pickup location, destination, mileage and required assistance. Call and we will quote your trip before you commit to anything.
Sometimes a ride isn’t just a ride
It is getting to the grocery store when you need groceries. It is attending your granddaughter’s graduation party. It is going out to dinner with friends. It is making it to church on Sunday. It is getting out of the house and being part of your community.
You should not have to limit where you go simply because you use a wheelchair or need additional assistance.
